According to an article published in the Globe and Mail today, Rogers Communications will be offering buyouts to half of its work force. Exclusions apply to several groups including Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment. Rogers does not yet have information posted on their own web site.
Typically, only a fraction of the employees accept the buy-out. Details of the buy-out were not released. But just imagine if all of the employees offered the buy-out were actually to accept? What would happen to customer service?
Rogers is blaming the move on a slowdown to the telecommunication industry in Canada.
Twenty-five thousand employees are currently employed by Rogers.
